What is BoB?
- BoB is Notre Dame's "Bunch-o-Boxes" Beowulf cluster.
- BoB is the 445th
fastest computer in the world! (June 2003)
- BoB is built out of 106 commodity dual-processor desktop
computers. Each computer has 2x 1.7 GHz Xeon processors, 1 GB
RDRAM, 40 GB HD and a Gigabit Ethernet card.
- BoB lives in 266 Stepan Chemistry, a cooled machine room
constructed by the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry.
- BoB is administered by Dr. J. C. Ducom of the Science
Computing Facility (SCF).
- 25% of the compute cycles on BoB are available to researchers
in the Colleges of Science and Engineering who were not authors of
the original grant proposal.
